Sales of 1967 units were relatively low, while all were waiting for the "all new" Corvette to be introduced the following year. Interestingly, the 1967 is now one of the most sought after collector cars of all time. The optional aluminum "bolt-on" wheel was available for only one year, as was the distinctive "stinger" big-block hood and side fender vents. Only 20 RPO L88 427 engines were opted for in 1967; rated at a conservative 430 hp, these engines actually pumped out in excess of 500 ponies, and now represent one of the most collectible (and expensive!) Corvettes ever.
