The big news in '65 was the big block engine... 396 cubic inches pumping out 425 horsepower made the loss of previous "fuelie" motors less painful. Four wheel disc brakes were also added to counter the forward force of the new powerplants. Side mounted exhaust systems first appeared in 1965.
