Many considered the 1958 example to be overdone in the styling department, with excessive chrome trim, fake hood louvers, etc. Yet, these same one-year only features make this a highly desirable automobile, today. Chevrolet learned that racing (and winning) helped to sell a lot of cars in 1958. For the first time since its introduction, the '58 Corvette came with factory-installed seat belts.
