Classic coupe straddles a retaining wall after brakes fail in Fullerton driveway.

Carl Sprague's morning balancing act was nothing to applaud.
At 9 a.m. today, Sprague was backing a classic 1963 red Corvette out of his garage when the brakes failed, sending the coupe down the sloping driveway and onto a front-yard retaining wall.
"What a ride," Sprague said Thursday afternoon. "It was scary."
A friend suggested jacking up the back of the suspended car, fitting the chassis on planks and using a 4-wheel drive with a winch to remove the vehicle.
The plan worked, with only a minor scratch on the left panel.
Meanwhile, the license plate appears appropriate for the out-of-commission classic: "Vet It B."
